It's not often enough that people share their positive impressions of teenagers, and too often you only hear horror stories from outsiders walking into high schools these days in communities riddled with gangs, guns, poverty and single parent households.  Whatever you are doing over at Green Tech High Charter School, you are doing it well....The mutual respect that I saw demonstrated between teachers and students at your school is unlike any I have ever seen.  Your students are always kind, caring, respectful, dedicated and charming, even among themselves (which, as I said, is so rare).

I have two children in the Ballston Spa School District, and honestly, I was perusing your website to see if my boys were old enough to enter a school system which would foster their growth and see them as nothing more than incredible young men with their entire lives before them.  I have seen how dedicated your teachers and aides are - working weekends, late hours, coming to extracurricular events, and, then their ability to reach each student personally and still manage to want to do it all over and over again - that is a true testament to excellent leadership.  I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy spending time with your students and faculty.

And, can you let one the young men I met know that I see him doing amazing things with his future.  I know whatever he does in life he will lead people through his boisterous words and ability to capture an entire room.  He inspired me and he should continue to speak wherever possible.

Thank you, again. Many blessings.

After having a rather disastrous freshman year, I transferred my son to Green Tech as a sophomore in hopes we would find a more suitable learning environment that would also provide the guidance our young men need. From the start he was given the expectations and requirements necessary to be a Green Tech scholar.  He stepped up to the plate and took summer school before starting in the fall.  This is when we both realized, there are not only great teachers at Green Tech, but also a tremendous support system.  Each year, my son has strived to improve in the classroom.  The teacher’s encouragement and his extra efforts have paid off.  He’s not only going to graduate, but he can hold his head high to have worked hard enough to qualify for a Division I scholarship, the first for Green Tech.  I am extremely proud of him yes, but eternally grateful for the entire Green Tech family.

Considering the options we had available to us, which were public school or private school, by far the best decision we ever made for our grandchildren’s education to date….  They have been Charter school babies since they began their educational journey.  We were so excited when Green Tech Charter High came along so they could remain in the Charter school environment.  Our experience has been more than just an educational one. The sports programs offered (football and basketball and they offer others)  have helped keep the boys busy and focused.  The coaches remind them that they are students first athletes second and strictly enforce the grade point average requirements to remain playing on the team.

There is a real sense of caring for the community, family, and most of all building character within these young men through discipline.  They have taught my grandsons to respect themselves and others.  They have taught them to give back to the community through volunteering to help others along with teaching them to take directions and to respect authority.  I can’t rave enough about the instructors, the office staff, Dr. Miller and the Administrators of the school.

Overall experience has been great.

Dear Green Tech High Charter School Guidance Office & School Staff,

I want to thank you for all you did to help my grandson (Class of 2013) to succeed his final year of high school. Your academic and sports program brought out the best in him and got him to participate in activities that prepared him to continue on to college. He is doing very well at SUNY Cobleskill, both academically and socially. He is very happy and I give you and your staff all the credit for getting him to use his intelligence and encouraging him to apply himself to work toward the goal of a great education.

I just wanted you to know that he is on track to a happy and successful life thanks to your caring guidance.

Thank you,
